i am the bearer
of the ancient sacred scroll
upon which your destiny is written

i come not cloaked
in sacramental robes
if this were so
you would ne'er encounter me

there is but one way
you might learn to know me
through the open windows
of these tear-filled loving eyes

i'll not fill your mind with scripture
nor consecrate your worldly deeds
as i speak not in the language
of your everyday affairs

i am not here to teach you
nor save you from yourselves
